Murray McLauchlan enjoyed a lot of commercial success in Canada in the late 1970s and early 1980s. He had a very commercial sound, bu that didn't take away from the style or power of his music. Try Walkin' Away from 1980 is a great example of that.

The song has folk elements guitar and harmonica, but it also features sax and whole horn section, and great backing vocals by Carole Pope. Murray's singing about empowerment here. You don't have to stick with a bad situation.
