S$# 016 Mary Hopkin | Turn! Turn! Turn!
You may remember Mary Hopkin's huge hit from 1968, Those Were The Days. It was produced by Paul McCartney. It and Hey Jude were the first singles on the new Apple label, and both were huge hits. The b-side was Mary's take on the Pete Seeger / Byrds classic, Turn! Turn! Turn!
Mary's straight-forward folk presentation of the song, with Paul playing acoustic guitar, floats through the air. Her clear voice is innocent yet wistful, optimistic yet world-weary, all at the same time. It's the perfect companion piece to the plaintive a-side.
TTT is included as a bonus track on the CD of Mary's Post Card album.

To everything, turn, turn, turn
There is a season, turn, turn, turn
And a time to every purpose under heaven
A time to gain, a time to lose
A time to rend, a time to sew
A time to love, a time to hate
A time for peace, I swear it's not too late
