Some observations and thoughts:

It was great to hear songs like Prairie Town, Fine State Of Affairs, My Own Way To Rock, along with the TGW and BTO classics. They really rocked.

The last four songs - MOWTR and No Time to end the regular set, then the encores of Share The Land and Takin' Care Of Business - were just smokin'.

Randy is a great guitarist. Burton is a great singer, keyboardist, guitarist, percussionist (eg cow bell during Hey You) and flutist.

So many great songs, but I think Laughing and Undun were my faves. What a great pair of tracks - they were so fortunate to have that great double a-side single. I just love the melody and rhythm in those songs. The lyrics are great, and the playing is exquisite.

The Carpet Frogs (the backing band) were great. Those guys can really play!

Like at other shows, Burton was off stage during Looking Out. He played guitar during You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet and No Time.

I liked the little bits of early rock 'n' roll songs that they added to Break It To Them Gently - eg Midnight Special, Be Bop A Lula, Donna, Another Saturday Night. I'm not sure if they've done that at other shows.

Opening act Joshua Bartholomew was good (liked his take on Eleanor Rigby), but it was Serena Ryder (the second act) who really caught my attention. The a capella Melancholy Blue, a great cover of Heart Of Gold, her own Weak In The Knees (and a couple of others) were really powerful.

PS Stay tuned for a surprise that I'll reveal next week.
