Was it really that bad?

So it was 26 years ago today that I saw Xanadu in a movie theatre. (Two years before that, I was doing other stuff. But that's a different story.)

The film was panned and did not do well at the box office. But others appreciate it. Over at the Xanadu Preservation Society, there's a web shrine to the flick.

So what is my opinion? Well, I didn't like it at the time. (I really liked the soundtrack, though.) Over the years, though, my opinion has mellowed. It's kitschy, and the story is slight. But there are far worse movies.

I haven't seen Xanadu in a long time. Maybe I'll have to check it out again.
